While planning for the 2018 FIFA World Cup, TrueID wanted to create an engaging experience for their members, similar to watching matches in stadiums. They wanted to give people the opportunity to cheer on their teams with other fans, no matter where they were watching the games.
They already had a community using their app, but they needed the right tools to enable them to chat about the games in real-time. They knew that the excitement of the World Cup could help them unlock the true potential of the TrueID app. But the World Cup was approaching, and they needed a quick and easy solution that could handle the all-time high traffic they were expecting on their platform.

TrueID had already partnered with Social+ for their internal chat tool in 2018. They reached out to ask if they could use this chat capability during their live streams both in the app as well as their TV set-top boxes. “After some amazing work by the Social+ team, we were able to give fans an exciting new experience and a feeling of community during the World Cup” Thotsaphon Maytheetanpongwanit, the Head of Communication, Community, and Commerce at TrueID explains. And with that, TrueID launched their in-stream chat feature with Social+ during the incredible atmosphere of the 2018 World Cup, enabling millions to virtually cheer alongside each other during the matches.
Seeing how engaged the fans were, TrueID realized the value of the in-stream chat feature and decided to make it a permanent part of their service, extending it to the English Premier League and other sports events, news, movies, and more. Over time, TrueID integrated even more social features into their app with Social+ to better connect their community. Users can now join groups, browse posts, share updates on their own timelines, take part in polls, follow celebrities and community contributors, make new friends, or just stay entertained between shows. Instead of relying on other social media platforms, these meaningful connections enabled by Social+’s customizable social features are centralized in the TrueID app, where they belong.

Since the 2018 World Cup, TrueID saw 1 million monthly community interactions, 300,000 monthly votes on polls, 15% month-on-month growth in the number of active members in their community, and a 30% average growth in their engagement rates following the integration of Social+ into their platform.
